Trans Pride London
July 2024
Trans Pride London, also known as London Trans+ Pride, is an annual event dedicated to celebrating and advocating for the rights of transgender, non-binary, and gender non-conforming individuals. Founded in 2019 by a group of trans+ individuals, including artists Finn Love and Lucia Blayke, the event was inspired by Trans Pride Brighton and emerged in response to increasing transphobia in the UK and globally (Yahoo Style) (Wikipedia).
The event serves as a grassroots alternative to more commercialized Pride marches, focusing on providing a platform for trans+ voices and fighting against discriminatory legislation and practices. The march not only celebrates the lives and identities of trans people but also honors the memory of those who have been lost and supports the ongoing struggle for trans rights (UAL) (Time Out Worldwide).
London Trans+ Pride 2024 will take place on July 27th, starting at Langham Place near the BBC, marching down Regent Street and Piccadilly, and culminating at Wellington Arch. The theme for this year is “Justice + Liberation,” reflecting the ongoing fight for equality and against transphobia (Socialist Worker) (Time Out Worldwide).
